Reality is not what it seems

Someone once told me that we are all angels and God sent us down from Heaven to analyze and research on life on earth. However, before we are able to come down to Earth...we have to all submit a proposal to God and in our proposals we have to state what we want to achieve during our quest on earth, such as our challenges, our successes and so on. God will then read through our proposals and tell us which areas we are suppose to improve on. We could not have too many smooth sailing areas, hence God will tell us to create more sadness or challenges in order for us to learn and vice versa.

When we are on Earth, us angels will then lead through life like how we want it to be when we submitted our proposals to God. We all decide how we want to lead our lives, its just a matter of how we see things and accept it even though it is not to our liking.

It was a great to end my Monday with a ride in the Singapore Flyer thanks to Jinde! The view from the top was great! Our capsule had about 20 people including a kid whom i think was high on sugar as she was running and climbing and the thought that i had to be stuck with ther for 30 mins was driving me nuts. Haha other than that it was all good.

Weekend with Togo

It was a FUN FUN Weekend with Togo in Singapore! We went shopping even though i'm not suppose to buy anything...hahaha...ate lots and lots of food, not forgetting we sat and sat and sat. Togo is gonna work in Singapore for 2 months! Woohoo...wait till Jul and Jess gets back plus all the friends we know in Brisbane...its gonna be a great get together!

Oh, Tim is back from Brisbane for good! Met up with him for dinner and we were catching up on good old days back in Brisbane. Welcome to the working club Tim! Be prepared to work for the rest of your life...muahahahahah

Xmas light up at Pines

Since Daddy & Mummy are in Perth cleaning up the house...Big sis, Ellenmae, Jinde & I decided to head down to Pines for the Xmas Light up. There was a kids wokshop where they made Xmas goodies...simple arts & crafts...yummy cup cakes and cookies for everyone...phototaking session with Santa and Santarina and ending off with a choir from VJC & lighting up of the Xmas tree.

A time of bonding and sharing. Xmas is near...Ho Ho Ho!

A long awaited meet up

Finally! A long awaited meet up of the hospi peeps! HUGE thanks to Dennis for organizing a gathering at Timber...the food was not bad but the service was kinda bad...food came like 1.5 to 2 hrs later...but the company was great! A piece of advise....if you are going to Timber, please wear minimal clothing...hahahaha cause i was in jeans and long sleeves and i almost died...

Everyone is starting a new chapter in their lives...some studying while some are working...no more the TP students we once were, but i sure hope we can turn back time as those were one of the best time spent ever...one of the highlight of my life.

Headed down to Boiler Room at St James after that...was actually Marcus' Birthday, Wynn's friend. We just crashed the party...hahaha live band was good...dancers had such tight ass which i was envious of the whole night...

I miss every single one of them...i really do! I hope the next gathering is near.....

Kids

Do you at times see the cutest looking children around and would like to bring them home or to have one yourself? Or do you see the spoilt brats whom you sometimes feel like strangling?

For me, its both. When i see some kids who are soooo darn cte, how i wish i could bring themback to play till they are a certain age then i can return them back to their parents...yes i know you may think i'm mad but i know of some people who think the same way as me too...hahaha. Also, i see children who piss their parents so bad that i tell myself that i will never have kids. In addition, i have a niece at home who is an angel at times and at other times, she can be worse than the devil. BUT, she adds more atmosphere to the place and definitely makes us laugh sometimes with the things she say and do.

So to have kids or not to have kids? Whats your view?

I took an off day on Friday to clear my Hari Raya as the whole department went back to work on that day. Anyway it was a great day spent. Spent my day with Jinde...its been a while since the both of us went out together. We watched The Game Plan & Stardust.

I never expect time to pass so quickly. There goes my weekend and it back to work tomorrow again. I can't wait for Deepavali! Even though its only a day but i'm excited....muahahaha...i get excited over the smallest thing. In the office, it can be the lamest joke but i can laugh so hard at it...damn i seriously need a good chilling session...need to meet up with friends! On all my fridays, i have been doing nothing but going home to chill...

I am not doing any serious blogging as you can see...i'm bored! Alright people...time for my tv watching...have a great week ahead!

Gary's wedding

Finally I have something interesting to update about. Attended Gary's wedding dinner on wednesday at grand Copthorne. There was a total of 40 tables. The food was kinda good. Practically everyone my sis and I knew when we were kids were at the wedding. People were invited from Australia and even some famous people in Singapore. Well, not really famous famous but at least i know them...like one of the top eye specialists, a few of the top indian lawyers, winery and olive farm owner, top bankers...etc...people whom i don't remember were there.

Gary and I got to know each other through our parents. Whenever our families hung out in the past, we will get together with other families' kids and play.

Congratulations to Gary & Ally! I wish you both all the best!

Met up with the poly girls yesterday where i had an early bday celebration. It definitely made my day after meeting them. Just all the laughter and company made me happy. Thanks for everything girls! Its been a long time since we last meet up together. Elicia, we are all waiting for you to come back! We miss you! Thanks for the present!!

The GB girls met up for dinner at Fish & Co. at the glass house to celebrate Sharon's birthday. We had 2 seafood platter to share and had a surprise cake for Sharon and we got her a red crumpler bag, which she better use every single day. Haha. The staff at Fish & Co. sang a birthday song to Sharon in their own funky way and they even made Sharon stood on the chair and wore a huge football looking hat, which we concluded that she looked like Strawberry Shortcake. At that time, the restaurant was packed and everyone was starring...but it was funny. There was this table next to ours which even clapped and sung a little of the birthday song with us and the staff. Hahaha....oh so cute! Oh not forgetting, we got her a strawberry shortcake too!

Dinner with Hosp Guys at Manhattan Fish Market

Finally met up with some of the Hospi guys after 6 months. Its always great to meet up with friends for a meal and catch up. We had dinner at Manhattan Fish Market at PS and headed down to a pub opposite Paradiz Centre for drinks and watched how Liverpool trashed Derby with a score of 6-0. Not all the guys turned up but i hope they will next time and stay a bit longer as well. *Ahem* Hahaha....

A filial son flew back all the way from Brisbane to surprise his mum for her birthday. Therefore, he declared himself a few days off and we met up on 2 occassions to catch up. Met up with Tim for supper once where he lived in S'pore for 8 years and had only been to Newton Circus only twice...hahaha. Then, met up with him again just this monday for dinner at Marina Square and headed down to No. 5 for drinks. Played a few games and as you can see from the pictures, peanuts were the punishment. Made a few new friends, Beatrice, Charlene and Shintya. They are nice girls and fun to be with. Alright, enjoy the pictures and laugh all you want....go ahead laugh out loud...i know you want to!

Chinese Junk Day

Spent a day to Kusu Island with Sis, Ellenmae and Jinde. We went on a chinese junk cruise, which had high tea. Well...not the really nice ones but at least there were snacks...hahaha...there were a number of tourists on board and i think we were the only locals. When we got off at Kusu Island, we went straight to the temple to pray. While praying, the tourists were like stunned to see us praying. They must be thinking, how come these people will know such a thing. Then, a caucasian couple went a bought a packet of incense and followed us.

After the cruise, we headed down to Clark Quay's new shopping centre, Central. Walked around abit and headed to dinner at Tapas Tree along the Singapore River. Food was good, ambience was great and the company was fantastic. If the weather in Singapore is better then it will be perfect. A great day spent!

1. I normally like to think of what to wear for the next day and take it out of my cupboard so i can sleep a little longer...cause i can never decide what to wear at times and i can sit in front of my cupboard for the longest time.

2. I am very clumpsy as i tend to trip or knock into things everytime. Oh, i am kinda prone to accidents...especially when i cross the road..scary.

3. My right eye has a hidden double eyelid that makes it look that i have super duper small eye compared to my left eye. All the ladies in my family has it too.

4. I can't stand untidiness but my room is in a mess as i am sharing it with a kid and her mum...lol.

Yesterday & Today

Met up with Cynthia and Wynn today, had coffee and walked around in the afternoon. While walking, the three of us felt tired and so stoned so we continued to sit down and have more coffee again. After that, we walked somemore and we sat down and ate somemore. Basically, thats what we did the whole day. Did alot of catching up as i did not see Cyn for like a year. We talked about everything under the sun, especially during our poly days. Those were the days...the fun, the joy and laughter even though we are always pressing for time...miss it!

Last night, while waiting for my mum and ellenmae to finish their musical at the Esplanade, "The king and I", my Sis, Jinde and i went to the Hong Kong Cafe at Marina Square and ordered Tau Hui...its HUGE!!! It came in a bucket and we counted that we had 10 bowls in total from that bucket! It coste us 6 bucks..so its quite reasonable and the tau hui was smooth too!

Its such a joyous occassion when your family and close friends celebrate your birthday with you. Its always the company that makes any kind of meeting fun and memorable. I hope my Dad enjoyed his day.

My sister and I planned a dinner for my Dad with his close friends and not forgetting the Tay family of course. When he told us that he will decide on a place for dinner, we told him that dinner has been arranged by us and he does not need to worry about anything else but just to show up. The Tay sisters has been stressing for Dad's birthday for almost 2 weeks on the menu and the venue to hold the birthday dinner and not forgetting the budget, since we are not receiving any income at the moment. Hahaha...but all went well...we ordered Dad's favourite dishes and we did not forget the alcohol. Jinde got him a bottle of brandy, i bought a bottle of Blue Label whisky and Dad's friends brought like a case of wine, champagne, more whisky and brandy. Therefore, there were 2 tables which one of them was classified as being "the serious drinking" table. hahaha

Dad played cards and we had karaoke after dinner. I did not had a chance to celebrate his birthday with him in China last year, but i'm glad i did this time.

A day with Candice

Spent a whole day with Candice yesterday...when i got home i realised that i brought my camera out but totally forgotten about it...so there are no pics taken with my les partner...

We met bright and early at 9.40am and headed down to chinatown...then walked to Amoy street for an early lunch. Alright...here comes the real deal. A few days before, candice and i have decided to do something stupid...well not totally but at least do something that we will normally wont do. We decided to go for a trial yoga lesson since its free (thats what we think). When we got to our 1st destination (shall not name names...haha) the person at the reception said we gotta have an appointment before coming down but when candice made the call some smart ass person told her its alright not to have any appointment and come straight down. We waited for quite some time and decided to leave since the staff was busy at the counter and totally forgotten about us.

Next, we went to a nearby place which as yoga as well. We sat there for an hr with some sales representive yakking away telling us about their place and company philosophy...blah blah...anyways then she decided to get down to the membership fee, which candice and i were not interested from the start. Our main aim was just to have a trial lesson which they dont have cause they were still renovating -_-''' When we already told her that we will think about it and get back to her like upteem times she can't get the idea in her head. She happily went and called her manager for help, which made us wasted another 20 minutes sitting there listening to him yakking away. ARGH!

Therefore, when there are advertisments saying that you can go for a trial lesson, do not! Its just a waste of time. Walked down to Clarke Quay to the new shopping centre, Central but there was nothing much as most of the shops were not totally open yet. Took a train down to Orchard and shopped at Far East, had drinks at Paragon's Starbucks enjoying the jazz music from a cd shop opposite, then took a bus down to Bugis, went to bugis village and then bummed around at Bugis Junction enjoying like 30 mins of the free massage thingy from osim that massages your back. Later, we walked down to Marina Square, walked around a bit and we tried out the new u squeeze from osim, which candice loves as it massaged her tired and almost breaking legs. Took a bus back to my place and showered before Jeslyn picked us up for supper at Bukit Timah...

Had an absolutely fun day catching up with candice and jeslyn. We did nothing but walk and eat the whole day. Thats about it...

Headed down to Bishan Park with Ellenmae and my sis for a roller blading session with Jinde. Its been ages since i last roller blade and also since i last exercised. Took me some time to get used to me set of wheels, fell down once so i think i am doing well. Hahaha..

Ellenmae is such a fast learner...just over an hour she improved! My legs were kinda sore at the end of the day but it was good fun and we are going roller blading again next week and its Ellenmae's treat...hahaha she is richer than me! Ahhh....kids nowdays...*tsk tsk*

Met up with Cailian, Jingyi, Candice and Esther, some of the GB girls at Pitstop Cafe at Boat Quay for dinner and board games today...its been 4 mths since i last saw them and they are all doing well...we were playing board games till we were all like practically brain dead from thinking, especially the memory game...haha

I enjoyed myself even though we did not do anything exciting but its great to hang out with old friends. Cailian reminded me that we met when we were in seconday one, ten years ago!!! How time flies...we are getting older by the minute! Soon, one by one will be getting married and we will be going for wedding dinners and i will be becoming poorer as i have to give ang baos to them...ahahaha...Can't wait for the next gathering!

Each day is an important day for each of us. For Jinde and I, its on 29th July that we celebrated our fifth year anniversary. How time flies, it seems just like yesterday when everything just started.

We did nothing special, just the usual hang out session with food as our company...hahaha...watched Invisible Target...went to Old Upper Thomson for dinner at "He Ji"...they sell bouncy wan ton mee and we also had prata...

There have been ups and downs along the way...we had our quarrels and fights but with the right receipe as on Jinde's blog, things always work out. Of course there were difficult times but you have always been patient with me no matter how stubborn i am. We had tough times especially when you were in the army and when i was in brisbane but i'm glad things turn out fine...we cannot tell what will happen in the future but till then you are my everything...muahahaha...everyone reading this will have goosebumps now...

We are going to the zoo zoo zoo, how about you you you?

Went to the zoo on tuesday with Ellenmae, my sister and Jinde. The weather was good as it was windy all day and only a little drizzle at some point. Ellenmae had fun especially on the pony ride and the roo feeding. She even said she wanna work in the zoo when she grows up, lets hope her ambition will sustain...haha

Finally its done...after 1.5 years its all over. This chapter of my life is now closed and a new chapter will begin soon after i look for a job. I just want to thank everyone who has been so supportive of me in these 1.5 years. To my family especially, without them, this will not have happened. To friends in Spore and Brisbane who has given me encouragement and support during tough times especially during assignment datelines and exams. Not forgetting, to "Hungry Jack" who has always been there for me since the first day!

I miss everyone in Brisbane! Do keep in touch!

Gold Coast with Jinde

WooHoo! Back from Gold Coast...was there for 5 days and we did heaps of stuff. We went to the theme parks, ate lots of yummy food, ice cream especially...haha...shopped and took lots of pictures!

This was Jinde's first trip to the Gold Coast can he totally enjoyed it like a kid where he made me sat the rides soooo many times that i seriously felt like puking...hahaha but it was good fun, not forgetting with my buddy Elicia and lau Hao Yan! Hahahahaha

We stayed at the Sea World Resort thanks for Jinde's "Da Jie" and we had our daily exercise cause we had to walk out to the bustop which is 800m! Can you imagine how many kilometers we have walked for the 5 days to and fro...haha

Back to Civilization! No more exams! Wooooohooooo! Exams are alright...stress and tiring but it was okay...hope the results will be too! I did something today that i am so proud of! Business Law exam date had changed from 14th June to 20th June at 5.45pm! WTF! When i am already so glad that it will all end on the 19th now it has been changed! Its Business Law for goodness sake! I just want to get it over and done with!

Yes Yes i know i have more time to prepare and study...aarrgh! What is wrong with my last semester! First, i have to go to take a post graduate course. Second, go to ipswich cause my post grad course clash with one course and now this!

Another year has passed and its the time of the year again for the annual Women's @ Home Cocktail Party 2007. This year's theme was Alice in Wonderland. Decoration was nice...compared to last year where there was nothing!

The asian community in college did not partake in it and we had our own fun. Jess, Jerlyn, Jul, Jo & I were spying on other people in my room. We saw people climbing walls and gates and unfortunaltely some of them got caught while some got away....damn it! Paying so much to the security for nothing! College is like paying $1800 for security for the night till 6am in the morning and they are not doing their job. Not forgetting, saw a couple making out...hahahaha well not really making out but the idea is there...hahhaha

Yes we have nothing to do and thats the most exciting thing to do on a friday night...spying!

Mummy loves pancakes from Pancake Place so Jess and i brought her there for lunch. After eating, we walked for a while in the city before heading to South Bank for more walking where Jess's legs were almost giving way. Hahaha...

College girls decided to have dinner at JJ's...a korean restaurant where they served good food. Yup, there goes a week of holidays...now back to uni again. My room is quiet now...but i'll get used to it...deadlines as usual...but soon it will be all over...can't wait!

Gold Coast Road Trip

Yes! We went on a road trip! We rented a car for the day and made full use of it...set off at 9.30am to collect the car in the city and started our trip down to Gold Coast where we were lost for some time but it all went well...asked for directions and plus Jul's map reading skills we got to Harbour Town in one piece.

After a day of shopping, we headed down to Sunnybank again for dinner and went to Kmart for more shopping...hahaha a bunch of shopaholics...

i really love these girls...so gonna miss them like crazy when i graduate...

Had a totally fun day with my dear Elicia who came all the way up to St Lucia to spend a night with me on Saturday. We did our assignments by the way.

My dear Jul and i went to Southbank for the afternoon to have a look at the markets and we watched a movie as well, "The Host".

It was the earliest show that we can catch and without knowing, we watched a korean movie! You know how we before the movie starts, there will always be trailers of other movies right, then suddenly it just had korean words, i was like, "OMG! Are we watching a korean show?!" Anyway the show was kinda funny, lame and scary. Hah, no idea how to describe it.

Anyways, brought Elicia to Elevate, a taiwanese eatery for lunch then we headed down to Woollonggaba for a KTV session, where we had a blast, especially Elicia. Its always nice to meet someone you know from home, especially when that someone is a great pal since poly days.

Elicia, hope next time when you come up to Brisbane city, you are able to stay for a longer period of time k...like 2 to 3 days? ahahahaha....love ya!

Back from Moreton Island

Sad but true, i am back from Moreton Island to modern civilisation. Its a good thing but it also means back to uni life. The weekend was well spent. Jess and I had loads of fun. Set out bright and early on saturday morning at 6.30am and we only got back on sunday night at 9.30pm. Everyone on the trip were nice, especially the tour guides Brandon and Ray. We met many people on the trip as well. They were from New Zealand, France, Japan, England, America and Germany.

We did activities like snorkling, swimming in the beautiful beaches, sand tabagonning (sand boarding) and 4-wheel driving. We slept in tents and had a camp fire, seriously there was not a single thing that reminded me about the commercial world. We also had a bbq dinner and sandwiches for our meal, which are typical camp food.

Its really a great weekend and both Jess and I looked tanned...well Jul said i'm black...haha...will post up the pictures soon. I'm just too tired from a full day of uni, give me a few days k.

Picture this:

You are jogging along brisbane river...well, not really next to it but near lah...listening to your favourite tunes on your mp3, where there is the clear blue sky, with birds chirping and cool breeze around you. On the river, you see people on the jet ski, rowing or wakeboarding. Also, there are other people jogging along with you, playing tennis, basketball or just sitting on the benches chit chatting. People unwinding after a long day at work or uni. The weather is not humid and its just feels great.

This is what i will miss when i go back to Singapore. You can never get this in Singapore. yes, i know its not any big and special scenario but i enjoy it. But unfortunaltely, i don't have any pictures to show u. I wanted to use paint and draw but i am not artistically inclined so i decided not to.

Maybe you understand how i feel, maybe you don't. Just want to share a little piece of what i experience here.

Swimming Carnival

College started the new semester with a bang. It is the first major event, The Swimming Carnival. As usual, there were many war cries, mascots from various colleges and how can we ever forget the "boo-ing" of one another. Women's College is the champion and how can we forget our fabulous swimmer, JULIANA ONG! You did great!

It rained and we were getting drenched where the Kingsmen were in the tent. Not forgetting, whenever its a girls event, the Kingsmen will just sit down and not give any support. How gentlemen of them...oh well, boys will be boys.

Time waits for no man

How time flies...i am already in my last semester of uni. The past year went by really quick...this time last year, i was so homesick that i cannot wait to go home during the holidays and finish my degree. Now, i still cannot wait to go back and finish my degree but i will miss everything here...especially the people who made life here so much fun! Without them, days will longer and there will not be any fun in my life here in Brisbane.

Many are working while some are still studying. I believe most of them have their future all planned out, but i don't. I am those who will take a step at a time. People been asking, "Are you going to work or continue studying?", "What and where do you want to work?"

I wish i have answers to the questions, but i do not. I will definitely want to go back to Singapore but have no idea what and where i want to work. Daddy is turning 61 this year and when i flip through my old photo albums, my heart aches when i see mummy and daddy age so much. I am not trying to say they are old but it shows that they have been working really hard to provide for the family.

Daddy has a small shipping company where i always visit since i was little. His staff watch me grow up and my sister used to work for my dad. This hows how time really flies. Daddy cannot work forever and i was thinking what will happen to his company when he retires. Well, he is actually semi-retired, but he has to work to support this baby girl of his in uni, where uni fees cost a bomb here. Foreign students are paying 2-3 times the price of what a aussie student pays...without us the uni can't survive anyway.

Anyway, back to the main point. I was thinking if i should work for daddy and learn the ropes as his company is his hard work and i would the company will be continued by family. Since my sister worked for him before and she likes the shipping line, maybe i could get her to come back but its kinda difficult since Ellenmae is studying in KL and my brother in law is there as well. i am pursuing a degree in hospitality management and will i be wasting my efforts for these 1.5 years by working something not related to it? I really don't know. if i work for my dad, i am also afraid that i will not be able to do a good job and let him down.

My dream is to own my cafe, i can totally picture it and i will do my best to make my dream come true! Again, how? What should i do?

I hate making decisions like that...we'll see...

3rd March:

Set off early in the morning at 7.30am and made our way to Gold Coast for some shopping...hahaha...Jess and I went to Harbour Town, Australia Fair (Supre Warehouse) and Pacific Fair...we didn't take any pictures cause we totally forgotten about it...hahaha...

Came back at around 7.30pm and we are dead tired.

2nd March:

Samantha, Juliana, Jess and I headed to the city for dinner and some shopping where i went back empty handed...hahahahaa....
